While rescue operations are underway, 1,879 community kitchens are catering to 3.72 lakh people in several flood-hit areas.

More than two lakh people have been sent to 504 refugee camps.

Neighbouring Nepal and Bangladesh are also suffering due to the flood waters.

Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary in the Disaster Management Department Pratyay Amrit and his counterpart in the Health Department R K Mahajan were among those who attended the meeting.

Railway officials said on Saturday that the train network still remains breached in Kishanganj, Katihar and Araria, among the worst affected districts. The cancelled trains included 12235 Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani, 12424 New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani till 20 August.

Floods continued to wreak havoc in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Assam which reported 88 more deluge-related deaths on Sunday, while West Bengal heaved a sigh of relief in the absence of major rainfall. The tragedy, had rendered over three million people homeless.

Around 5.30 lakh people have been affected in Morigaon. 2,210 villages were submerged in the floods in Assam. In addition to the rescue operation, 3090 food packets were delivered between the flood affected people and 1000 were provided medical help.

The government has pressed in 51 rescue teams comprising the Army, NDRF and SDRF to evacuate the marooned and provide relief materials to flood-hit people.
