Texas defense stands strong in win at Iowa State

Iowa State was a tough out for the Horns for the last three seasons and that might not continue anymore.

Texas: The Longhorns did what they've done so often against Iowa State, pushing the Cyclones around while dictating tempo through the ground game.

Jack Trice Stadium did not seem to phase Texas as the offense applied steady pressure to an Iowa State defense fighting to stay in the game all night. Quarterback Jacob Park was intercepted three times and the Cyclones managed only 10 yards of rushing.

Making his first start after missing two games with a sore shoulder, Shane Buechele threw for 171 yards and a touchdown.

Putin, who has led Russian Federation since 1999, is widely expected to seek and win another six-year Kremlin term. Earlier, local officials refused to give permission for the rally, a decision that Navalny denounced as illegal.

In soccer, a team can "park the bus", so to speak, going all in on defense, giving up few open scoring chances, and hoping to spring a counter-attack on the opponent at some point to eke out a less-than-thrilling 1-0 win.

Iowa State made field-position decisions like a Big Ten team.

The game hinged on a two in a 21-second span late in the third quarter that went the Longhorns' way. The Cyclones ran 24 plays from Texas territory but was timid when its underdog role called for boldness. Nearly none of the improvement Iowa State has made under second-year coach Matt Campbell was evident against the Longhorns. "When you look at big-picture goals. we want to compete for the Big 12 Championship in the month of November", Herman said. It also failed on two fourth down tries inside the Texas 50. "I thought we were able to make some really good adjustments". While Iowa State is not as esteemed of a team as the Trojans, Texas must stay focused on building a steady offensive rhythm against the Cyclones on Thursday night.

Twice in the third quarter, Texas (2-2, 1-0) survived self destruction thanks to replay review. While the sophomore's play could be attributed to his long layoff due to injury, fans expect a leader like him, with the hype surrounding the team upon Herman's arrival, to not miss a step at any point in the season, and rightly so.
