Amazon's new 7-inch (compared to 6-inch before) Kindle Oasis e-reader features a 300 pixel-per-inch density, which according to the online retailer accommodates 30% more words per page.

I didn't have much time to demo the new Oasis, but it's certainly intriguing.

Unlike last year's Kindle Oasis, which used a magnetic case you attached to the e-reader to extend its battery life, the new Oasis relies entirely on its built-in battery. Amazon claims the waterproofing, unlike most water-resistant devices, will hold in both salt and freshwater. And it also has ambient light sensors that adjust the brightness as you move from room to room, or from outdoors to indoors.

The Kindle has a battery life which can last for weeks and the screen size measures upto 7-inches. No, Amazon didnt resurrect the speaker or 3.5mm headphone jack that the QWERTY Kindles had.

The design is very much as laid down by the original Oasis, with a slim body behind the display and a pronounced bulge at one side, housing all the brains and the battery.

You may also recall that last year's entry-level Kindle (generation 8) came with Bluetooth audio support out of the box.

You'll then be able to connect your Kindle to your vehicle, speaker or Bluetooth headphones, with syncing between the two, meaning you can flip straight from reading to listening and back again.

The screen is also the brightest Amazon's offered up.

A senior State Department official says Friday's meeting was last-minute and was related to the Middle East. "And I can tell you who is going to win", Trump said.

On Wednesday, Amazon remedied the oversight with the announcement of a new Oasis-class e-reader.

Thin and light design with an aluminium back, it features a unique ergonomic shape, so you can read comfortably for hours.

The new Kindle Oasis is priced at $250 for the 8GB model, $280 for 32GB, and a cellular model will retail for $350.

Amazon said the new Kindle Oasis, which will start at £230, can withstand immersion in up to two metres of water for up to an hour. Both they and the Oasis itself are up for pre-order today, and will ship on October 31. The interface has also received a few upgrades, with new boldness options, font sizes and accessibility features.

How is the new waterproof Kindle Oasis different from the original model?

To accommodate audiobooks (which take up more space), the Kindle Oasis 2nd gen comes with 8GB of storage.

The company is celebrating the line's upcoming 10th anniversary (November 19) a month or so early with an update to the the high-end Kindle Oasis.
