The defense minister's visit to the border area comes more than a month since Indian and Chinese troops disengaged after almost a 70-day standoff at Dokalam.
"She says "Namastey", then asks, "(Do) you know what "Namastey" is?"
A video of Indian defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman informally interacting with the Chinese soldiers at the Indo-China border has gone viral on social media platforms.
And after that, it was "namaste" all the way as the PLA officers smartly folded their palms and blurted "namaste".
Earlier, Nirmala Sitharam said she waved at the Chinese soldiers from the across the border who were reportedly taking her pictures.

The light-hearted exchange saw Sitharaman greeting them "Namastey", as the Chinese troops responded with the greeting, "Ni Hao".
"Acknowledged a row of Chinese soldiers from across the fence who were taking pictures on my reaching Nathu La", she tweeted. With the help of a Chinese interpreter, Sitharaman was introduced to a People's Liberation Army commander and captain posted at the China-India border.
Sitharaman was also scheduled to take an aerial survey of Doklam and forward posts in border areas of Sikkim but was later cancelled due to bad weather.
The friendly interaction of India's top official with Chinese troops at the border comes days merely weeks after India and China ended their two-month-long stand-off in Doklam over a land dispute in the region. She also offered candies to the army personnel there.
Ms Sitharaman's aerial survey of the Doklam-Nathu La area came a day after the government clarified there had been no new developments since the disengagement.
Sitharaman also met Sikkim Chief Minister Pawan Chamling at his official residence.
