OJ Simpson, the former U.S. football legend and Hollywood star, has been released from jail after serving nine years for armed robbery.

Simpson was granted parole in July, having been sentenced to 33 years on a 12-count charge stemming from a hotel room armed robbery of sports memorabilia.

After serving nine years for kidnapping and robbery in Nevada, O.J. Simpson will be released on parole.

"Our biggest concern was our safety and the public's safety and not wanting anybody, paparazzi, to follow him".

David Cook, attorney for the Goldman family, said on Wednesday the judgment amount has almost doubled with interest over the years to more than US$65m and the family will continue to seek payment.

Forms aside, there is obviously the issue of Simpson going back to the state where Nicole Brown Simpson was murdered - providing him extra police protection would be costly and controversial.

After leaving Lovelock, prison officials will bring Simpson to the High Desert Prison near Indian Springs before heading to the Division of Probation and Parole in Las Vegas. The 70-year-old walked out of prison a little after midnight on October 1 -this way he could avoid media attention. Attorney General Pam Bondi sent a letter Friday to the Florida Department of Corrections, urging it to tell Nevada officials that Florida objects to Simpson serving his parole in the southern state.

The senator said he saw the importance of the US and its allies being unified against the regime. "We will never allow North Korean nukes".

"I don't have any information on where he's going", Keast said.

A short video showing his first steps outside was also released on the department's Facebook page.

Simpson hopes to return to Florida, as his two youngest children Sydney and Justin live in the Tampa Bay area.

Neither Simpson's attorney, Malcolm LaVergne in Las Vegas, nor state Parole and Probation Captain Shawn Arruti, who has been handling Simpson's case, immediately responded to messages.

It's important to note that Florida officials say Simpson hasn't filed a transfer request with the Sunshine State.

According to Pro Football Talk, Simpson was released eight minutes after he became eligible, and that early release was no accident.
