The Creek Fire was reported at 3:42 a.m.in the area of Gold Creek and Little Tujunga roads, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The blaze on the east side of the freeway across from the Getty Center is causing massive traffic jams on the 405 freeway and other roadways in the area. Both were closed for the day, as was Santa Monica College and all schools in the Santa Monica-Malibu school district.

The 210 Freeway has been shut down from Sunland Boulevard on the east to the 5 Freeway on the west, and the 118 Freeway interchange with the 210 is also closed amid the firefight.

Clouds of black smoke were seen from miles away before blowing by wind over the valley.
