The 27-year-old became a prominent civil-rights activist after her father, Eric Garner, was killed after being put in a chokehold by a New York City police officer in 2014. Garner died almost one week after suffering a massive heart attack on Christmas Eve.

Sanders in a series of tweets on Saturday sent his condolences to Garner's family, characterizing her as an "exceptional young woman" and "fighter for justice" who will not be forgotten.

Garner's mother, Esaw Snipes, tells the Daily News she's in a coma but there's a "glimpse of hope" she could recover.

Following her father's death, Garner led marches in NY and elsewhere, drawing attention to the plight of African-Americans who've been victims of police brutality.

Eric Garner's pleas of "I can't breathe!" as he was put into a chokehold by Police Officer Daniel Pantaleo - a move the NYPD had banned - helped spark the Black Lives Matter movement and spurred his daughter to become an advocate against police brutality.

Erica Garner became a voice against police brutality after his death.

The mother of two, who resides in Brooklyn, went into cardiac arrest Saturday night after suffering an asthma attack, her family has said in media interviews and on social media. New York City reached a $5.9 million settlement with Garner's estate in 2015.

The conflict in Eastern Ukraine started in April 2014 after Russian Federation annexed Ukraine's Crimean penninsula. On December 20 this year, the signatories to the Minsk agreements made a recommitment to the cease-fire.

"I cautioned her ordinary, you need to back off, you need to unwind and back off", she said. The city of NY settled with Eric Garner's bequest for $5.9 million in July 2015.

Mr Garner's death was ruled a homicide by medical examiners, but a grand jury did not charge any arresting officers in the case.

"The police slaughtered her unarmed, peaceful father with an unlawful strangle hold and got off with nary a word", Brittany Packnett, a pioneer operating at a profit Lives Matter development and prime supporter of Campaign Zero, said on Twitter.

After news of Garner's death broke, many took to social media to pay tribute to her. In 2016, she campaigned on behalf of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, an independent, for president. Then for her own life. Atlanta Black Star will be doing a more extensive piece to shine a light on the extensive work Garner has done and her legacy as an activist.

"In the event that anything she would need us to do in memory of her is continue battling for equity and continue battling for families", he said.

Rest in power, Erica Garner. "Her heart was assaulted by a framework that would gag her father and not consider responsible those that did it".
