Facebook-owned Instagram has introduced the ability to follow hashtags.
This new feature is already rolling out for the Android app and users can download it from the link.
Following a hashtag is as easy as following users.
Either search for a hashtag you're interested in or tap on one from a post in your timeline and you'll see a pop-up telling you that following hashtags is now possible. Some popular hashtags are used unnecessarily which could crowd the user's feed, to avoid which the user can unfollow the hashtag anytime. You will now be able to see the top posts from that hashtag on your feed and even some related stories on your Instagram Stories bar. Earlier today, Instagram added a new feature which gives users the ability to follow hashtags, allowing them to more easily discover and stay up-to-do with topics and interests.
"Follow hashtag is the beginning of our efforts to continue to provide features that enable you to find and gain inspiration from the Instagram community", Instagram said. Followed hashtags will also show up in your profile, if it's public, and other people's as well.
Instagram mentioned about the new feature in a blog post which read, " Every day, millions of people share photos and videos and tag them with relevant hashtags. Stories with the hashtag will also appear on the Stories bar alongside Stories from people you follow.
