After his unexpected defeat forced him out of the race for the Himachal Pradesh chief minister's post, BJP's vanguard leader Prem Kumar Dhumal now has a tough job in hand. They also point out that Thakur represents the class of leaders who have made a mark in the state politics by the dint of their hard work.

His appointment came after a long round of deliberations between party-appointed observers and central ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Narendra Tomar, and the newly-elected MLAs. Central observers had submitted a report after meeting state leaders and RSS leadership in Shimla earlier this week.

Union minister JPNadda was also considered a top contender for the post. He is said to enjoy a good rapport with BJP national president Amit Shah and Union health minister J P Nadda.

Thakur was a Cabinet minister in the BJP government led by Dhumal from 2007 to 2012. He was elected BJP Legislature Party leader at a meeting on December 24.

The Louisville, Kentucky-based company distanced itself from the group, saying that it did not want them to buy their pizza. Anyway, probably worth noting that Papa John's is the official sponsor of the NFL. "The NFL has hurt us", Schnatter said.

The BJP veteran and Margdarshak Mandal member, Shanta Kumar, who is a Lok Sabha MP from Kangra, had apparently put his foot down saying that the CM must be chosen from among the party MLAs.

Sources disclosed Mr Thakur 's name was also finalised as the central leadership was in favor of promoting a second generation leadership in the state. Despite being defeated, Thakur contested the next Assembly elections in 1998 from the Mandi constituency and won by a comfortable margin. He is ready to take responsibility of the state chief minister and the party leaders believe that the state will fundamentally gain under his leadership.

"The former chief minister's proposed name was supported by Shanta Kumar and JP Nadda", added Tomar. According to the Financial Express, Thakur then went on to serve as the Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj.

The BJP ousted the Congress from power by winning 44 of the 68 seats in fray. He has also taken over the command of Himachal Pradesh BJP. Their efforts paid off as Thakur acquired an MA degree from Panjab University in Chandigarh.
