Florida State reportedly has had two top candidates emerge for its head coaching vacancy.

For almost a month, there had been chatter that Fisher would be the prime candidate for the Texas A&M job, should that position open up.

Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher watches play against Florida during the second half of an NCAA college football game, Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, in Gainesville, Fla.

Taggart coached OR to a 7-5 record this season and is 47-50 overall as a head coach.

Clippers in 'wait and see' mode after Blake Griffin injures left knee
With just Griffin on the court, the Clippers are getting beat by 5.9 points per 100 possessions. Griffin immediately grabbed the same left knee that he's had multiple surgeries on in the past.

Per a person in Fisher's final meeting with his players, the former head coach apologized for misleading his team. Defensive line coach Odell Haggins will be the interim coach.

"Evidently he feels like that's the right move for him and his family and the right time to do so", Swinney said at an ACC title game news conference. This is a business that's very public, as we all know, and from time to time, you have to make decisions. He will replace Kevin Sumlin, who was sacked last weekend after going 51-26 in six seasons at Texas A&M. "So I'm wondering, where is the loyalty to the program, Jimbo?" I've known him forever, when I was at Alabama and he was at Auburn. The University is expected to issue a press release Friday afternoon stating that the 52-year old coach has stepped down from his position.

Meantime, Florida State is bracing for Fisher's departure. "Florida State is Florida State". That leads us to Fisher's contract at A&M. I expect them to make a hire in the coming week or so whoever the new coach turns out to be.

Names circulating as possibilities for the Florida State post include Oregon's Willie Taggart and South Florida's Charlie Strong. "I don't have any doubt about that".
