The allegations came on top of a model's mid-November sexual assault accusation against Simmons, published by the Los Angeles Times.

In reports in Wednesday's New York Times and Los Angeles Times, a total of four women accuse Simmons of rape.

In the report published by The Times, several women working under Russell from the 1980's up until the late 1990's experienced overtly aggressive and sexual behavior.

Through his lawyer, Simmons acknowledged that he engaged in "inappropriate conduct" with Dixon while she worked at Def Jam, but "emphatically states that he did not have sex with her". In 1988, she says Simmons invited her to a party at his apartment, but she was all alone when she got there and he raped her. Records and she said she had to physically fight off Simmons advances one night at a hotel during a music conference in South Florida.

The pop singer Tina Baker said Simmons once pinned her to a bed and raped her in the early '90s, when he was her manager. The story is corroborated by a friend at the time whom she confided in after it happened.

"I didn't have sex with a man for nearly nine years" afterward, Baker told the newspaper.

The paper quoted a fourth woman, Christina Moore, who accused Simmons of groping her during a brief encounter in Miami in 2014.

She quit her position at Def Jam soon after.

According to Dixon, Simmons would often harass her in the workplace and graphically describe how she aroused him in meetings. The current allegations sent to me by the New York Times and Los Angeles Times range from the patently untrue to the frivolous and hurtful.

"I vehemently deny all these allegations".

In response to the LA Times story, Simmons said: "While there are many women with whom I have shared extraordinary relationships, whether through work or love, I regret with my whole heart any conduct that has led anyone to say or think of me in the ways that are now being written".

Simmons and producer Brett Ratner were both investigated by the Beverly Hills Police Department for an alleged sexual battery in 2001.

Lumet claimed that Simmons - who said her recollection of the night was different from his own - took her to his apartment against her will and sexually violated her. She fought him and said no, but he raped her, she said. He said all of his interactions with women have been consensual.

Hines even based an encounter in her novel, Mercedes Ladies, on the alleged rape, but was too scared to identify Simmons by name, instead referring to him as a powerful businessman named "Ron".

One woman claimed that Russell forced himself on her after inviting the girl back to his apartment to talk about a career, but once the woman arrived, there was no one there but her. Russell proceeded to allegedly force her on the bed despite her protests. Shortly after Khalighi came forward, screenwriter Jenny Lumet penned a column accusing Simmons of having sex with her without consent. The former label head-turned-wellness impresario denied those claims as well and responded to them - as he did numerous new accounts - saying he remembered the events differently. "I said 'Wait.' You said nothing", she wrote. The presumption of innocent until proven guilty must not be replaced by "Guilty by Accusation". "I want to restate categorically what I have said previously: I have never been violent or abusive to any women in any way at any time in my entire life".
