The Netherlands have officially announced the appointment of Ronald Koeman as their new manager.

The KNVB have been looking for a new head coach since Dick Advocaat stepped down from the position in November after failing to reach the World Cup.

"I never hided my ambition to be coach of the Dutch national team", Koeman said during the press conference.

He succeeds Dick Advocaat, who stepped down after the team's failure to reach this summer's finals in Russian Federation. "It is a great honor and a great challenge". I'm really positive about the future of the national team.

Former Everton manager Koeman has been out of a job since he was dismissed by the Premier League club back in October.

Army Vice Chief Sarath Chand said on Monday that India would give a befitting reply to Pakistan and its action will speak for itself.

The Netherlands were runners-up at the 2010 World Cup and finished third in 2014 in Brazil but failed to qualify for Euro 2016 and this summer's World Cup.

A legend with the Netherlands national team, Koeman was capped 78 times as a player and won the European Championship in 1988. Two years later Koeman even was favorite to take the job, but the KNVB eventually ignored Koeman and preferred the return of Hiddink.

Guus Hiddink and Danny Blind held the position before Advocaat during a hard period, in which they failed to qualify for Euro 2016 or this year's tournament in Russian Federation.

The former Everton manager's first opponents will be England in a friendly at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam on 23rd March.
