The sound quality has been praised as one of the most acoustically accurate smart speakers on the market.

Ever since Apple announced Homepod, it made sure to underline that it's firstly a speaker with fantastic sound-the "smart" part comes second. The HomePod's bass was a bit boomy and overemphasized. I wouldn't be surprised if HomePod stays iOS only for a long time, or for good.

Apple CEO Tim Cook introduced the HomePod at a keynote address in June 2017, saying that it would "reinvent home music". The Sonos One sounds nearly as good as the HomePod on most songs and, actually, slight better on others. My HomePod was purchased out of pocket with our site reimbursing me; if I was spending my own money, I'd pass on HomePod for now with a wait-and-see attitude as Apple improves the smarts of its smart speaker.
