Thurman, who worked on seven films with Weinstein including Pulp Fiction and the Kill Bill movies, had previously said she was too angry to comment over a "tidy soundbite" on sexual misconduct claims against the producer when approached by Access Hollywood.
Thurman told Dowd that an early encounter with Weinstein in a Paris hotel room in the 1990s ended with him suddenly appearing in a bathrobe and leading her to a steam room but that the first "attack" - the word appears in quotes - happened later in London.
Thurman said she had got to know the now-disgraced Hollywood mogul and his first wife, Eve following the release of Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction. According to the actress, he pushed her down and tried to expose himself to her. Thurman described her behavior as "like an animal wriggling away, like a lizard" as she did her best to get away from him.
Thurman was able to maintain a working relationship with Weinstein, though she tended to avoid him, but she was coerced by a powerful man into a unsafe situation yet again on the set of Kill Bill.
Brafman says Thurman's statements to the Times "are being carefully examined and investigated" before Weinstein decides whether any legal action against her would be appropriate.
Thurman described two encounters with Weinstein that were inappropriate.
Mike Fisher ends National Hockey League retirement to return to Predators
Some speculate the Predators could have beaten the Penguins in the Cup finals a year ago with Fisher healthy, but who knows. I believe that this team, that this city, is going to win a championship, and I'm going to be the biggest fan.
"I just walked away stunned, like 'Okay, well there's my half-assed apology, '" said Thurman. But she alleged the first "attack" came not long after the odd meeting in Paris, at the Savoy Hotel in London. What ultimately ruined Thurman and Tarantino's working relationship, she said, was an accident on the set of Kill Bill during which the director pushed her to drive a auto that a teamster had told her wasn't fully safe.
"Mr. Weinstein acknowledges making a pass at Ms. Thurman in England after misreading her signals in Paris", a statement from Weinstein's spokesperson says.
Thurman further details how Tarantino, who "didn't like to hear no", ordered her to drive a vehicle that she didn't feel was safe for a scene in Kill Bill, later resulting in an accident. She returned to set with her neck in a brace, permanently damaged knees, and a concussion.
Thurman also accuses Tarantino of almost killing her in the New York Times article, during an incident from the set of Kill Bill in which she crashed a auto during filming. "Kill Bill 2" is being shown at the festival out of competition. He tried to expose himself. "Quentin finally atoned by giving it to me after 15 years, right?" I said I was angry recently, and I have a few reasons, #metoo, in case you couldn't tell by the look on my face.
"He did all kinds of unpleasant things", she said. She recalls, "The steering wheel was at my belly and my legs were jammed under me..." I felt this searing pain and thought, 'Oh my God, I'm never going to walk again.' When I came back from the hospital in a neck brace with my knees damaged and a large massive egg on my head and a concussion, I wanted to see the vehicle and I was very upset. Not long afterward, Weinstein attempted to force himself on her again at the Savoy Hotel in London, Thurman said. He has apologized for causing "a lot of pain" with "the way I've behaved with colleagues in the past" but has denied "any allegations of non-consensual sex".
"Personally, it has taken me 47 years to stop calling people who are mean to you "in love" with you", she continued.
