Karunakar Reddy was the state's revenue minister in the first BJP government in the southern state from 2008-2013. The BJP president said BJP will return to power in the 2019 General Elections under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Continuing to demand apology from Congress leaders, Rai said that it was disgusting to see how some people, in their desperate attempt to malign Shah, were linking Shah to the death of the Judge whose own family had repeatedly said that he died of cardiac arrest. Most of the Lingayat leaders are publicly supporting Congress, while BJP is working extra hard to stop the uprising.
