Spotify finally confirmed previous rumors that have been reported since April 19. This new method is being called "assisted playlisting" and will provide users of the free mobile version to receive more song recommendations based on both the content and names of the playlists they are personally creating. Users will be able to play any song in those playlists without having to shuffle until they get to the song that they want. If you're a free listener, how do you like the new changes made in on-demand playlists and a neat data saver mode?
Non-subscribers - who earlier had to settle for a shuffle of tracks - can create their own playlists or choose from existing compilations, as well as ones that are automatically generated to adapt to users' tastes. Even so, referring to the recorded music industry's glory days of peak sales, Gustav Söderström, Spotify's chief research and development officer, promised, "This will make the 1990s look like a practice run".
"The free experience on Spotify is becoming a lot more like Spotify Premium", said Babar Zafar, vice president of product development, during Tuesday's Spotify presentation in NY. The company announced that it has over 90 million monthly active users on its free tier, and around 60% of the users that pay for the Premium service start out as free users.
Dozens of businesses looted amid Nicaragua unrest
Nicaragua's Catholic bishops called for peaceful demonstrations and sheltered protesters in the cathedral of Managua . A police crackdown on protesters and curbs on some media have fueled broader criticism of President Daniel Ortega .
Global head of creator services Troy Carter spoke about the new model's impact on artists, who would be suspicious of expanding the services free options as their assumed expense. This will lead to reduced quality of the songs that are being streamed. Over time, these personalisations will improve and users will be able to tell Spotify which songs and artists they like, or "hide", those they don't. Four main pages define the new design: Home, Search, Your Library, and Premium.
Now, the streaming giant is revamping its free app so that users can play up to 15 Spotify playlists on demand with the ability to play or skip songs in any order. The company has 71 million paid subscribers while Apple Music now boasts 38 million members, which Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet software and services, announced last month at South by Southwest according to multiple reports. In addition, the Indian market already has ad driven services like Gaana and Saavn that offer music streaming for free.
