Like Alexa Announcements, it allows owners of multiple Google Assistant powered speakers to give a the command "Ok Google, broadcast it's dinner time", and have that repeated across every unit.

Wouldn't it be nice if Alexa could help you hurry your family along or maybe announce that dinner is ready?

Amazon notes that if you have more than one Alexa-enabled device in your household, Alexa will still intelligently respond on the device that is closest to you using Echo Space Perception (ESP) technology. It's true Alexa doesn't work the same way it does on the Echo series but the company is making big changes. You will not be able to access hands-free Alexa if the device is asleep and plugged into a low-power source (Amazon uses the example of a computer's USB port). Customers can also say, "Alexa, tell everyone..." and "Alexa, broadcast..." to make an announcement.

Amazon says that Alexa Announcements is rolling out now in the USA and Canada.

Alexa Announcements are available across Amazon's entire lineup of Echo smart speakers.

Yep. Google began offering this same functionality for its Google Home line of smart speakers this past November. So if you have an Echo Show in one room, Echo Dots in other rooms and maybe an Echo Spot in another, whatever you say will be broadcast everywhere at the same time.

Amazon says the feature is rolling out this week.
