Melania Trump last appeared in public on May 10, standing alongside her husband at Joint Base Andrews as the couple greeted three Americans who had been released from prison in North Korea.

"I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing", Mrs. Trump said on Twitter.

'Rest assured, I'm here at the @WhiteHouse w my family, feeling great, & working hard on behalf of children & the American people!

Gossip has mounted in the 20 days since she was last seen, with President Donald Trump as he welcomed home three USA detainees from North Korea.

She earlier this month launched Be Best, an initiative to teach kindness to children.

Melania's spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, told Business Insider on Wednesday that the first lady "is doing great" despite her relatively long absence from the spotlight.

Meanwhile, according to CNN, the first lady hasn't appeared in public for 20 days.

On the 19th May her husband, US President Donald Trump, posted a now deleted Tweet welcoming Melania back to the white house after her stay in hospital, revealing she was "feeling and doing well", however he misspelt Melania's name, referring to her as "Melanie".

Melania's communications director says she is doing "really well" and is engaged on internal meetings.

Melania's admission to hospital came as a surprise, as there had been no public indication that she was unwell.

But she still didn't make a public appearance, leaving some skeptics still wondering about her condition and plenty more. A few days later, reports stated that the first lady had returned to the White House following the operation.

"She was hospitalised for nearly a week and is now home and recovering". It's been suggested that Trump may have actually undergone a more serious medical procedure than first reported; wilder conspiracy-types reckon she may have fled back to New York City.

A White House official conceded that the Trump administration is itself to blame for such speculation, saying: 'It's expected that Trump people are hiding something'. And some chalked up her absence as another example of her private tendencies.
