Wall Street braced for plummeting sales of Apple iPhone X

With any luck, Apple will be able to increase its profit margin on the iPhone X, so even if sales don't pick up, investors will be happy.

The iPhone is by far the biggest product from Apple, accounting for more than 60 percent of its revenue past year, but chief executive Tim Cook and other executives have targeted services as a path to growth.

When Apple reports its latest quarterly earnings on Tuesday, the world's most valuable company is expected to reveal revenues of about $61 billion, after selling an estimated 54 million iPhones in the three months to March.

Although, a recent report suggests that this iPhone variant also spells an end to the 3D Touch feature, which made Apple's devices more advanced compared to standard touchscreen phones.

In addition, Apple will launch a giant iPhone with a 6.5-inch screen and an update to the current iPhone X size, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg News earlier this year.

Apple previously launched a pair of truly wireless earbuds, the AirPods, that eliminate the need for a headphone port...assuming the iPhone owner wants to use the product. Here's how the iPhone X looks in pictures.

The new screen will reportedly raise costs to between $23 and $26, thus, leading Kuo to predict that since Apple's new display module is more expensive, it might ditch the 3D Touch features to balance costs. Analysts are cutting their sales forecasts, sometimes drastically.

There is also concerns over the price Apple is paying for components. Most 3D features can easily be replaced with a simple touch-and-hold method, or long-pressing as it's more commonly called. The iPhone X's parts cost $115 more than the iPhone 8's, according to a November analysis. Kuo believes that this new displays setup will be used in all iPhone 2019 variants. However, the new iPhone will not receive the support of face recognition technology and 3D touch technology. This is the not the first time an issue like this has affected Apple iPhones.
