The chief minister said at the election campaign meeting in this "most sacred" city of Tirupati that Modi had promised to offer SCS, a lovely capital city and other infrastructure to Andhra if the NDA was voted to power.

Reeling out promises made by the BJP and Modi to the state, he tore into them, detailing meagre Central funds given to the state under different heads and accused the Centre of lying that special status was not granted to the state on the advice of the 14th Finance Commission.

The chief minister said Modi granted Rs 2,500 crore for the construction of a statue in Gujarat, but released just Rs 1,500 crore in funds towards constructing the new state capital in Amaravati - a project for which farmers had surrendered over 34,000 acres of land worth Rs 50,000 crore.

Addressing a massive public meeting in this temple town, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president alleged that Modi failed to fulfil the promise made as the prime ministerial candidate of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the presence of Lord Venkateswara.

Amid a furore over a reported cash crunch, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said currency shortage will have a negative impact on the growth rate and society. "Our fight will continue against them until justice gets delivered and there is no compromise on that", Naidu said.

He called upon the Telugus living in Karnataka to vote against the BJP in the next month's state Assembly elections. "We will win 25 out of 25 MP seats and decide the next prime minister", he said. The betrayal by the BJP and the conspiracy of the YSR Congress are the top issues on his agenda as he prepares for the next round of elections. "It is shameless that the YSRC is holding a parallel meet against us in Vizag", he said.

The issue of SCS has taken centre-stage in AP politics ever since the Union Budget 2018 was announced, immediately after which the TDP began protesting the centre for meting out "injustice" to AP. Though four years lapsed Narendra Modi has done nothing to the State.
