The three-year Jammu and Kashmir government, wracked by bitter political feuds and worsening security challenges, collapsed today with the BJP pulling out of its alliance with the PDP setting the stage for yet another round of governor's rule.
While the PDP would repeatedly say it will never allow dilution of this provision, the BJP would vow that abrogation of Article 370 and its upshot including Article 35A are "core agendas" of the party and that it could never abandon it.

The three years of its rule has evaporated the little sympathy and support it had. "Ideologically, the two are completely different parties". While the PDP called for more restraint, the BJP advocated a more hardline approach.

The use of pellet guns to disperse protests was condemned around the world as thousands of civilians suffered injuries.
Mehbooba Mufti knows more than anyone else about what she has lost in the pursuit of power.
After the BJP's sudden but expected break-up with partner PDP in Jammu and Kashmir, former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti seems to have withdrawn into a shell.
The BJP's national general secretary also added, "We had to respect the mandate of the people".
