A Russian state-funded news agency RT video shows Salah smiling as Kadyrov gives his speech and pins a badge bearing the Chechen flag to the Egyptian international's shirt.

He said he was particularly annoyed with a team banquet hosted by Kadyrov, who used the dinner to grant Salah "honorary citizenship".

CNN first reported on Sunday that the Liverpool forward was deciding whether to return to the Egypt team after the World Cup.
