Clooney said a auto turned in front of him and he hit it head-on, smashing the windshield, CNN reported.

It's thought he has sustained a hip injury from the incident and has since been released from hospital.

Clooney was driving when a vehicle suddenly pulled in front of his motorbike.

According to NBC reporter Claudio Lavanga, the Sardinia hospital where Clooney was being treated has already discharged the actor.

A picture from La Nuova shows a smashed windscreen, which suggests George hit it during the crash, but despite this, his condition is not thought to be serious.

Clooney's spokesman, Stan Rosenfield, explained the accident to the media, relaying that, "He's doing fine".

New wildfires sweep through California, burning homes
Authorities estimate at least 20 homes have burned in a wildfire raging in the hills above Goleta in Santa Barbara County. Officials announced that much of the mandatory evacuation area will be reduced to a warning area on Saturday at 5 PM.

In the hospital, he was joined by his wife Amal and they left the venue together in a private vehicle.

It is reported that George was then x-rayed and seen to by a doctor, before being discharged the same morning and leaving the premises in a chauffeur driven vehicle.

Clooney has a home with his wife, human rights lawyer Amal, on the Italian mainland, on Lake Como. Recent reports had stated that the two have been joined by the actor's parents as well.

The accident occurred on the Italian island of Sardinia where Clooney is filming a miniseries based on Joseph Heller's book "Catch 22".

Clooney was in Sardinia shooting his Hulu limited series Catch-22. She recently paid her very first visit to Toronto alongside her father-in-law, journalist Nick Clooney.
