The sales tax holiday lasts from August 1 to August 5 on certain items, according to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue.

Arkansas' tax-free weekend will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4 and end at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 5.

The sales tax was waived on purchases of clothing and school supplies of less than one-hundred dollars and on computers less than 15-hundred dollars.

The Wisconsin Department of Revenue said the state has a budget surplus because of a strong economy, good fiscal management, and the whole idea to return some of that money to tax payers in the form of a sales tax holiday. The tax exemption applies to parents' back-to-school shopping for their kids, and for teachers stocking their classrooms. The gift certificate can be used at any of the participating chamber businesses and works just like cash or a gift card.
