Mourinho's dark mood casts shadow over Manchester United

Ander Herrera has defended manager Jose Mourinho and argued Manchester United's players share his sense of frustration at the way the club's tour of the US has unfolded.

The wheels have threatened to come off during the club's pre-season tour of the United States, with the Portuguese becoming increasingly outspoken and irritated by a variety of matters.

United have brought Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant to Old Trafford ahead of the 2018-19 campaign, and it is understood that Mourinho wants another centre-back and a winger to complete his summer business. I am confident I get one.

Jose Mourinho's bad-tempered and miserable demeanour on the pre-season tour of the US is causing increasing disquiet inside the club just over a week away from the start of the Premier League season.

"We have the situation with Matteo Darmian, he's playing now every game but probably he's going to leave, and then some kids, they're probably going on loan".

United's squad will be strengthened when Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young and Jesse Lingard, among others, return from their post-World Cup holidays but Mourinho is anxious to recruit further and presented Woodward with a list of five names "a few months ago". "I think it's possible I'm going to have one".

Putin invites Trump to Moscow, but ‘conditions need to be right’
He added that he would consider a visit to Washington but noted there must be "necessary conditions", without further explanation. Laster in the week, Trump ordered a top aide to invite Putin to visit Washington this fall, amid congressional midterm elections.

But he now seems reconciled to the fact that there may be only new face, telling beIN Sports: "I am confident I will get one, but I think two I am not going to get - which is not a drama".

United supporters are understandably concerned about how their side will do this season after failing to win a single piece of silverware a year ago, and consequently Mourinho is the bookies' favourite to be the first manager sacked.

Mourinho's mood has not been helped by United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward's perceived failure to deliver the transfer targets he identified before the summer break, with the window closing in just 10 days. Alexis is the only attacking player that we have.

"So, if I get one player until the end of the market, that's fine". "I agree with that".

Mourinho was also eager to praise the change to the transfer window dates, which will now close before the start of the Premier League season.

"First of all, I have to respect what my manager said, because he knows what he's talking about", said Herrera.
