Joseph opened the 2017 college season with a 54-yard field goal against Navy, his career best.

A Cleveland Browns helmet rests on the field prior to the game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on September 11, 2016 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Joseph was picked over several other kickers who came in for tryouts on Monday, said the person who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the team has not announced the signing.

Joseph is an undrafted rookie from Florida Atlantic.

He replaces Zane Gonzalez, who missed two field goals and two extra points in the Week 2, 3-point loss to the New Orleans Saints. Gonzalez was waived on Monday, but it turned out that Browns fans had already started their search for a new kicker immediately after the game.

Hurricane Florence may hit North Carolina
Home Depot and Lowe's activated emergency response centers to get generators, trash bags and bottled water to stores before and after the storm.

"Turns out Browns' kicker Zane Gonzalez, who is losing Cleveland's kicking job this week, has been kicking with a groin injury that requires an MRI today, per source", Schefter tweeted.

After having a game-winning try blocked in last week's 21-21 tie with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Gonzalez missed four kicks for the Browns (0-1-1), including the go-ahead and tying attempts inside the final two minutes of play against the Saints (1-1).

Another referenced Gonzalez's role as a graduate assistant baseball coach, which is an unpaid position: 'Can you kick field goals? Whether or not there will be a new kicker in town will remain to be seen.

The bad: Everything else, with the most recent heartbreak coming in a 21-18 loss that gave the Browns a 0-1-1 record.
