Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has praised former President Olusegun Obasanjo for the role he played in his development in politics.

The national convention of the party, which began on Saturday, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and continued well into Sunday, saw Atiku eventually emerge victor, polling a total of 1,532 votes.

After the emergence of a former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, said it would still have to sit down and decide who it would support for the presidential election.

In his acceptance speech, Abubakar said he learnt a lot under Obasanjo when he served as his deputy from 1999 to 2007.
