You'll now be able to host FaceTime video chats with between 2 and 32 people in the same conversation.

Though it unfortunately seems that there now aren't any Australian carriers that support the feature, with iOS 12.1 Apple is rolling out Dual SIM support for the new iPhone XS, XS Max and XR.

However, according to the iOS 12.1 release notes, the new update "adds a performance management feature [.] for iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus". During a group call, Facetime will automatically detect the active participant and bring them to the forefront. Inactive callers will be placed on the bottom of the screen until they speak, said Apple. But you can also tap to bring that participant to the front and center.

iOS 12.1 also brings Depth Control in real-time preview and dual-SIM support to iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR customers. Users can now activate an additional cellular plan from a carrier without having to use a physical nano-SIM.

eSIM is the software-based version of the traditional plastic chip that identifies you to your carrier, and Apple highlighted it and the new iPhones' dual SIM capabilities during the company's September event.

Promises, promises. While not explicitly denying support for Apple's newly-minted eSIM and dual-SIM iPhone XR, XS and XS Max functionality, the likes of Verizon and T-Mobile have only issued vague statements that it is coming at a later date.

Another focus of this update is in adding emoji that represent our global community, and emoji such as a moon cake, a red gift envelope and a nazar amulet are also among the newest batch.

Alternatively, you can now start calls from a group Messages conversation.

One of the huge features arriving in iOS 12.1 is Apple's adjustable bokeh - background blur - for Portrait Mode photos. Portrait mode with Depth Control is also available on the TrueDepth camera for selfies.

"There are, however, two major additions that confirm upcoming availability of features teased at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2018 in June and Apple's iPhone unveiling last month", the report added.
