After weeks of speculation, Sir Elton John has been confirmed as the star of John Lewis' festive visual offering. Every year, the entirety of the United Kingdom waits for the new advert to be released and this year, the company have gone all in with an Elton John inspired video.
But look a little deeper, and this year's story is all about music lessons.
While it is true acoustic pianos are not available, a search on the John Lewis website shows that they do now sell a number of electrical pianos and keyboards, accompanied with the words: "Inspired by our Christmas advert".

It is thought the advert cost the department store around £7 million (NZ$14m) with John receiving an early six-figure Christmas gift from that budget. A portion of Elton John's undisclosed fee has been donated to the Elton John Charitable Trust.
