George Bush Senior dies at the age of 94

George H.W. Bush, who died November 30, 2018 at the age of 94, served the government in various roles before he was elected president in 1988.

His son, George W. Bush, served two terms as president from 2001 through 2009.

After Barbara Bush died, George H.W. Bush insisted on going to greet everyday mourners in Houston who had come to pay their respects to the former first lady.

He had spent every summer in the seaside town since childhood, except during World War II while he was a naval aviator. After leaving office, he was often referred to as "41" - shorthand for his status as America's 41st president and to distinguish him from his son and fellow president, George W., who was known as "43".

After two terms in the Reagan White House, Bush ran for the presidency again in 1988 and defeated Dukakis by winning 40 of the 50 states.

His successors have had their share of degrees from Harvard and Yale, but Bush was thoroughly a product of the WASPy aristocracy of the Northeast - a graduate of Andover and Yale, the son of a CT U.S. senator, the scion of two Wall Street banking dynasties.

President Donald Trump has said the late George H W Bush "set the stage for the decades of prosperity" following his years in power.

In 1992, the former Republican President lost re-election to Democratic candidate Bill Clinton. Ambassador to the United Nations.

He told reporters last week all of her government-related emails sent on the account have been placed "in presidential records". She said her missives were about "scheduling and logistics and managing the fact that I have a home life and a work life".

More recently, Bush joined the four other living ex-presidents in the fall of 2017 for a concert in Texas to benefit victims of hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria. He then celebrated his birthday on June 12 - making history by becoming the first former president to reach the age of 94.

There will no doubt be additional weighing in about the elder Bush's presidential career, both the ups and the downs.

George P. Bush, the former president's grandson, tweeted in memoriam on early Saturday morning.

On August 2, 1990, Bush faced what was arguably his greatest test. Iraq, led by Saddam Hussein, invaded Kuwait after accusing it of stealing oil and conspiring to influence oil prices.

"I have often told my children, 'If you want a role model in your life ― look to President George Herbert Walker Bush".

He flew 58 combat missions during World War II.

After an $8.3 million renovation to the main exhibit on the life of Bush in 2007, the museum now features state-of-the-art audio guides, with the voices of George and Barbara Bush, as well as their daughter, Dorothy.
