Gray succeeds the 2017 victor, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa.
It was a night of glitz and glamour in Bangkok, Thailand, where 93 handsome women contested for the Miss Universe crown which was won a year ago by South African, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters.
The last time that The Philippines won the prestigious crown was back in 2015 when Harvey mixed up the final announcement between the then-Filipina (Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach) and Colombian delegates.
Ms Gray was previously named Miss World Philippines in 2016, and is the first woman in history to have been awarded both World and Universe national titles.
Dubbed as one of pageant's favorite, she managed to snatch a victory from other gorgeous contestants, which this year included the first-ever transgender woman, the candidate from Spain.
Gray answered by talking about her work in a slum community in the Philippine capital, where she focuses on making education accessible to the community's youth.

Gray holds a Master Certificate in Music Theory.

Miss Venezuela and Miss South Africa came in second and third place, respectively.
She continued: "In a moment where I meant to admire the courage of a few of my sisters, I said something that I now realise can be perceived as not respectful, and I apologise".
Miss Australia, Francesca Hung, made the top 20, but was embroiled in a racist video scandal, with some calling for her, Miss USA, Sarah Summers, and Miss Colombia, Valeria Molares, to be disqualified.
Miss Australia has won the title of Miss Universe twice, most recently in 2004, when model Jennifer Hawkins copped the top gong. "I love that you can connect on that level", she said.
For the Q&A round of the pageant she was asked: "Let's make believe that all of a sudden you had a million dollars".
