Kawhi Leonard, the superstar forward who is in his first season with the Toronto Raptors, has agreed to a new multiyear endorsement deal.

Kawhi Leonard has had quite the 2018 but as the year comes a close, it appears that the final chapter in his messy story is wrapping up.

New Balance has signed National Basketball Association star Kawhi Leonard to an endorsement deal, according to multiple reports, potentially signaling that the Brighton-based apparel maker will venture into a new sport. Their biggest highlights are the launch of the James Worthy signature shoe in the 1980s, and Michael Jordan wearing New Balance's during his LIFE Magazine photoshoot in 1985, which birthed the original "jumpman" photo.

With companies such as Puma and China-based Li-Ning and Anta trying to make their way into the space, it's no surprise New Balance is attempting to do the same.

Kawhi Leonard Set to Leave Jordan Brand for New Balance

Although his existing Jordan endorsement deal expired October 1, Leonard has been wearing last year's Air Jordan 32 Low model during games.

"Me and New Balance haven't announced anything". New Balance isn't exactly known for stylish kicks, but the company is looking to re-establish itself in the basketball market. Leonard is averaging 24.3 points, 8.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals as the Raptors sit atop the National Basketball Association at 18-4, the best record in the league right now. Signing an National Basketball Association star to an endorsement deal is one way to do that.
