Expanding on a scene from the first "Captain Marvel" trailer, the Skrulls are just as capable of blending in with Earth's human population as Danvers is, resulting in a bout of acrobatic subway auto fighting between the movie's heroine and a little old lady.
But even the awesomeness of her strength and abilities isn't all; this trailer also teases us with a superhero origin so mysterious, even Carol Danvers isn't sure what her own story is.
Plot's it all about?: The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.
In the realm of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems the Skrulls are nowhere to be seen in movies like Guardians of the Galaxy and Avengers: Infinity War, suggesting the Kree-Skrull War ended sometime before the first Iron Man. The film also stars Ben Mendelsohn, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening and Clark Gregg.
The latest in Marvel's long, on-going line of box office-dominating superhero flicks doesn't hit cinemas until March next year, but the trailer dropped today gives us a bit more of an idea as to what the hell we're all in for.
Captain Marvel is set for U.S. release on March 8, 2019. The only other Marvel character I can think of who bleeds green is the Hulk.
"Your life began the day it almost ended", she says. The audience also finds out more clues about Captain Marvel's past in the trailer. So you could live longer, stronger, superior. She said, "I'm not going to fight your war, I'm going to end it". To which Danvers offers a gentle correction: "Heroes", she says, "noble warrior heroes". She was indeed a Skrull, set to destroy Captain Marvel.
