Sheriff Fitzgerald said Patterson was not home when Jayme Closs escaped and may have been out looking for her when he was arrested. The call was "pinged" to the Closs home.

Jake Thomas Patterson, 21, has been arrested for the murder of Jayme's parents and for one count of kidnapping. Minutes later, Patterson was pulled over by a sheriff's deputy based on a description of his vehicle Jayme provided, authorities said. From what she told them, they believed she was there for most of her disappearance.

Local teacher Kristin Kasinkas told the Minneapolis Star-Tribune the dog walker had knocked on her door and told her, "This is Jayme Closs!"

Jayme was skinny and dirty, wearing shoes too big for her feet, but appeared outwardly OK when she was discovered on Thursday afternoon near the small town of Gordon, the neighbours said.

Fitzgerald said the suspect has ties to the Barron area and that he believes he targeted Jayme Closs. Smart said the girl's family should be given "space and privacy on their road to finding a new sense of normal and moving forward". Only then did the girl reveal her name.

During the 20 minutes Jayme was in their home, Peter and Kristin Kasinskas said they tried to make her feel more comfortable. "She did not go into detail about how she got out of the house or anything like that". Jayme told police she escaped from her captor's home, which was in a remote area outside Gordon. I had asked her if she knew where Gordon, Wisconsin, was. "Best night. Just happy with lots of emotions and tears tonight but so happy and I can't wait to hug that little girl".

She was rescued nine months later with the help of two witnesses who recognised her abductors from an America's Most Wanted episode. She said she taught him middle school science but only remembered that he was quiet.

"It's unbelievable of the will of that 13-year-old girl to survive and escape", Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said.

Elizabeth Smart says it is a "miracle" that a 13-year-old Wisconsin girl missing for almost three months has been found safe. On Friday, Jayme underwent medical and mental evaluations, spoke to law enforcement and was scheduled to be reunited with her family.

"It wasn't like she was scared of us", she said.

Jayme went missing on October 15, the day her parents, James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 46, were found shot to death at the family's home near Barron, Wis., a town about 75 miles northeast of Minneapolis.

Jayme had been missing since October 15. Jayme was missing and an AMBER Alert was issued for her.

"It was literally like we were seeing a ghost, because we have seen the billboards and the commercials and all that stuff, and there she is in my kitchen, you know".

"My agency received a 911 call about 4:30 yesterday afternoon from an individual who was out walking her dog said she was approached by a young female claiming to be Jayme Closs", Douglas County Sheriff Tom Dalbec told reporters.

Smith, Jayme's godmother, told CNN affiliate WCCO that Jayme was recovering in a hospital near Duluth, Minnesota, and is expected to be released Friday. The Barron County Sheriff's Department has scheduled a news conference Friday morning. "I thought today was going to be the day, and then I find out two hours later that she's found and I just can not believe this", Allard told WCCO reporter Mary McGuire.

Jayme has been missing since her parents, James and Denise Closs, were discovered shot to death in their home on October 15 near Barron, Wisc.
