Jurgen Klopp reacts to Manchester City defeat

City had a few more moments when they controlled the game, but we had these moments as well - not as long or maybe as often as City, but it's an away game and that's absolutely OK.

City are now back to within four points of table-topping Liverpool and looking to re-establish momentum following an uncharacteristic wobble in December.

Asked whether his side's reaction to the loss would prove telling, Klopp replied: "How can I say that?" Without it, Liverpool could now be heading over the horizon toward their first championship since 1990, but they have now been dragged back into a title race by Pep Guardiola's men.

While the triumvirate of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino is capable of winning the English top-flight on their own, if Liverpool can add significant strength in depth to their attacking line-up, then that could seal Liverpool's first ever Premier League crown.

"Sometimes it's just a little bit: the cross was not good enough or the last pass, that happens", Klopp explained.

"Everybody knows that I like him [Kompany], he is such a fantastic player, outstanding".

When Bernardo Silva played the ball back into the Liverpool area, Aguero had barely moved from his position, but Dejan Lovren didn't react quickly enough and the Argentina forward made a clever run across him.

Before Alabama and Clemson, the last time the same two teams started and ended the season 1-2 in the AP poll was in 2005. Alabama's defense has shown over its past two games that it can be scored upon by top-tier offenses like Clemson's .

"We went toe-to-toe with a very physical and aggressive team and we matched them for everything, if not more".

The hosts did go through on goal themselves - and scored in the 40th minute.

"We knew that it was a final today, if we lose it is nearly over".

"Look, we haven't won five titles in the last 10 years, so we don't have that experience and we have to win as many games as we can to finish the season well".

"If we lose the next one this doesn't mean anything".

"There were others moments when we took the ball and accelerated, not immediately passing, because if you can outplay the counter-press every team in the world struggles, even City". Of course, it will be a challenge but this is what we want. We wanted to win the duels - if you don't win the duels against Liverpool, they create chances.

"We got three very important points against a fantastic team".
