Ice Storm Warning issued for most of Chicago area Tuesday evening

By early Tuesday morning, according to NWS, a mix of rain and snow could fall around the 500' level in the northern Sacramento Valley area. Temperatures will stay in the 20s and 30s with winds picking up from the east.

A period of ice pellets and freezing rain is expected to begin around midday Thursday and continue through the evening hours. There is also the risk of freezing rain.

The commute in to work on Wednesday will be fine but that could all change by the afternoon.

The temperature is scheduled to switch to the plus side Thursday with a high of 6 Celsius with a 60 per cent chance of rain or snow.

True ice storms are uncommon in this part of the county, the weather service said on Facebook.
