Kyler Murray, who Dolphins could select in draft

The A's will retain Murray's rights, so they don't get a compensatory draft pick in next year's draft. Murray forfeits the remaining $3.16 million, due March 1. Murray and the former Texas Tech coach have a strong relationship that stems from his recruitment out of Allen High School.

Murray did not mention baseball or the A's in his statement. They could take Murray and develop him, but that is a slap in the face to Mike Zimmer and a team that is built to win now. At this point, despite concerns about his size, it seems Murray is nearly guaranteed to be a first-round pick.

Murray was listed at 5-foot-10 and 195 pounds by Oklahoma.

Elway selected a 6-7 Brock Osweiler over a 5-11 Russell Wilson in 2012 and traded up for a 6-7 Paxton Lynch in 2016. But a year ago, four quarterbacks were actually taken in the top 10, and right now, I believe at least three quarterbacks are destined to be grabbed in the selections between 1-10.

"We took the best athlete on the board and who we thought was probably the best baseball player on the board, too", Athletics general manager David Forst said. "I know he's signed up to play baseball, but he is a dominant football player and I would take him with the first pick". Soon the NFL Draft will be here and one player could make sure that the New England Patriots dynasty lasts for many more years.

The Cardinals attempted to end to the speculation by publicly supporting Rosen yesterday.

Murray was the ninth overall pick in last June's baseball amateur draft, and the outfielder agreed to a minor league contract with Oakland for a $4.66 million signing bonus.

And, with widespread first round projections ahead of April's NFL Draft, Murray has now made a decision to pursue a professional career in football.

The Oklahoma Heisman victor and National Football League draft entry (and apparently no longer the A's outfield prospect) has picked Erik Burkhardt as his agent. In came Kingsbury, a college coach renowned for his aggressive offensive schemes, and while it wasn't immediately known how he felt about Rosen, his October remarks about Murray were quickly dug up. The last quarterback that was as short as Murray in the National Football League was Doug Flutie.

Note: The entire deals are fully guaranteed except No. 32, which has $8.619 million in fully guaranteed money. Scott Boras represented Murray in baseball. "That's the kind of person you want with your first-round pick".
