R Kelly released from jail after mystery child support payment

A Cook County sheriff's spokesperson confirmed that "someone" paid the outstanding amount for him, but that she did not know the person's identity. Kelly and dancer Andrea Kelly divorced in 2009 and he is supposed to make payments of $20,000 per month, as well as educational expenses for his children, who are ages 16, 18, and 20.

He even appeared to be physically restrained during the animated outburst, in which he vehemently denied all allegations against him. He also stated that he loved his fans.

Singer R. Kelly was arrested after failing to come up with the $161,000 he owed in payments to his ex-wife and their three children.

After Kelly was jailed, Smith revealed that Kelly had been found in contempt for failing to pay the child support and ordered into custody. A judge refused to let Kelly pay in installments. The Associated Press only notes that a vague "someone" paid the full $161,000, but no word yet whether the check provided to authorities this morning used Kelly's funds or if the money came from third parties.

Ed Genson, Kelly's attorney for the 2008 trial, made headlines earlier this week - telling the Chicago Sun-Times that Kelly "was guilty as hell" in 2008.

In the case of alleged sexual abuse, Kelly was jailed on February 22 and released three days later after posting $100,000 bail.

A woman who alleges R. Kelly sexually abused her when she was just 13 years old has agreed to testify against the singer.

In 2002, he was criminally charged for allegedly filming himself having sex with a 14-year-old girl. Recently, the Surviving R Kelly documentary series renewed attention on decades of accusations against the performer, including child pornography, sex with minors, operating a sex cult and sexual battery.

R. Kelly has been a target of a boycott campaign, and his recording contract has been cancelled.

Kelly maintained his innocence in an emotional CBS interview with Gayle King this week, saying, "I didn't do those things".
