Although this year's recruiting class for Duke wasn't looking as strong as years past, it got a much-needed shot in the arm with the addition of Matthew Hurt.

Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski instructs his team during the second half of Michigan State's 68-67 victory over Duke in their NCAA Elite 8 game in Washington, D.C., Sunday, March 31, 2019. The power forward announced his decision to sign with Duke at the high school's auditorium.

Hurt is not a similar player to Williamson; not many are.

Hurt chose the Blue Devils over a trio of fellow blueblood programs: Kansas, North Carolina and Kentucky. It was clear the Wildcats and Jayhawks were out of the picture when Hurt recently canceled planned home visits from coaches John Calipari and Bill Self.

Hurt is the third top-25 commitment for Duke in the 2019 class and the third five-star to join the fold this cycle joining center Vernon Carey (No. 3), forward Wendell Moore (No. 22) and guard Boogie Ellis (No. 34).

The Minnesota native revealed that Tre Jones remaining in Durham for another season played a role in his commitment.
