Dave Joerger becomes victim of Vlade Divac's Kings power grab

A league source, who spoke to The Sacramento Bee on the condition of anonymity, said Divac will have the power to decide the fate of coach Dave Joerger and assistant general manager Brandon Williams.

No team in the National Basketball Association outperformed expectations this season more than the Sacramento Kings, who were predicted to finish with the league's second-worst record but ended up winning 39 games.

The Kings Media Relation Manager Rahsaan Gethers confirmed with FOX40 that Chris Clark, the director of public relations, also no longer works for the team.

On Thursday morning, the Kings announced a contract extension through the 2022-23 season for Divac, who has held the team's GM role for four seasons.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Dave Joerger's time in Sacramento will come to an end on Thursday. The Kings finished ninth in the West behind point guard De'Aaron Fox, winning their most games since 2005-06. The former Lakers and Kings center has been in Sacramento's front office since 2015. Bogdan Bogdanovic (14.1 ppg), Willie Cauley-Stein (11.9 ppg, 8.4 rpg) and Harry Giles (7.0 ppg) are all promising prospects as well. Whether he remains with the Lakers moving forward is anybody's guess. He previously was the head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans for five seasons, compiling a 173-221 record. Though, Johnson indicated Walton would remain in place as head coach, barring "something drastic".
