The Mandalorian panel at Star Wars Celebration Chicago featured a first look at footage and a teaser for the first live-action TV series set in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. It co-stars Gina Carano as a character named Cara Dune and Carl Weathers as a bounty hunter named Greef.
The Mandalorian will arrive on Disney's streaming service Disney Plus this November! It seemed to really bring out some enthusiasm at ILM, with Favreau joking that "a lot of people came out of the woodwork" to be a part of it. Disney announced previously that it will have "Star Wars"-themed food and drink available to maintain a truly immersive experience, such as blue and green milk, "ronto wraps" and desserts painted like planets". Star Wars fans know Filoni best for his animated work on the series Star Wars Rebels and, before that, The Clone Wars. In an extended scene screened exclusively for Celebration attendees, the Mandalorian is seen meeting with Greef at a local cantina. "She's an ex-rebel shock trooper" who is "a bit of a loner, and I'm having a bit of trouble re-integrating myself into society".
"Fantasy fulfillment, that's what it's like", reportedly said Pedro Pascal, who will play the titular native of Mandalore, home to infamous father-son bounty hunters Boba and Jango Fett. Pascal didn't name his Mandalorian, and played very coy about the subject, but I still believe him to be Cobb Vanth, the self-made lawman introduced in Chuck Wendig's Aftermath books. The show will be set three years after Return of the Jedi, after the fall of the Empire but before the First Order emerges. Weathers will be stepping into the role of Greef, who sounds like he'll be a head honcho of sorts for the galaxy's most risky bounty hunters. "The Mandalorian is a guy he figures can get the job done so he hires him and sends him out there". As they rolled out set pieces, the Stormtroopers gave them instant feedback on whether the fans would approve.
American Airlines cancels Max flights through mid-August
Not all flights previously scheduled on a Max will be canceled, and other other aircraft maybe substituted, the airline said. Chicago-based Boeing has been developing a software upgrade for an anti-stall system under scrutiny in both crashes.
What did you all see out there today?
What do you make of Carano and Weathers' characters? "We love pulling all the different stories together".
