Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue is no longer in negotiations with the Los Angeles Lakers to become the team's next head coach, according to multiple reports. And much of the blame should be laid at the organization's feet.
Lue reuniting with James in Hollywood seemed like a slam dunk once the Lakers lost out on the Monty Williams sweepstakes last week, with the current 76ers assistant coach instead choosing the Phoenix Suns. Up next in their head-coaching search: Frank Vogel.
Iran announces partial withdrawal from nuclear deal
China said the agreement should be implemented and called on all sides to avoid an escalation of tensions. Here's where Iran's nuclear program and the unravelling accord now stand.
Lue coached Lakers forward LeBron James in Cleveland, with the Cavaliers winning the title in the 2015-16 season when Lue took over for David Blatt midway through the schedule. He and James teamed to lead Cleveland to the 2016 National Basketball Association title as well as Finals appearances in "17 and '18". Rambis, the former Lakers player and assistant, also spent some time on the Knicks' sidelines during the Phil Jackson regime before being fired in 2018 alongside Jeff Hornacek. "Lue was sacked after Cleveland's 0-6 start this season, the Cavs" first since James left for the Lakers in free agency last summer. According to The Los Angeles Times, Vogel will be meeting with the team today to discuss the possibility of becoming the team's next head coach. Smith appeared on "SportsCenter" on Wednesday night and reported that those close to team owner Jeanie Buss have "implored" her to trade James. The Lakers need a new coach and should probably clean house in the front office.
"You've got folks close to Jeanie Buss imploring her to trade LeBron James", Smith said. "We don't know what the hell is going on in Los Angeles".
