An Amber Alert was issued for the 8-year-old after she was kidnapped on Saturday afternoon, police said.

The suspect, Michael Webb, now faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony.

Calzada indicated that Sabatka appeared to be unharmed but was transported by MedStar to a nearby hospital where she was reunited with her family.

The mum had fought with the male kidnapper, grabbing a piece of his jewellery as he drove off.

Salem Sabatka was safely recovered by Fort Worth, Texas, police just after 2 a.m. local time Sunday, according to police.

Local church members reportedly spotted the auto and notified authorities, who found her and her alleged kidnapper early Sunday at the WoodSpring Suites in Forest Hill.

British former F1 champion Jenson Button has called him a "legend" while McLaren said Lauda would be "enshrined in our history". Just days earlier, Lauda had said in an interview: "On the Nuerburgring, if your auto has a problem, you're 100 percent dead".

Last year, Webb was facing charges of sexual and aggravated assault in Texas but the case was dismissed when prosecutors said the alleged victim became uncooperative.

Sabatka was safely retrieved after two members of a local church started their own search for the young girl and the suspect's vehicle. She is 4-foot-5 with brown hair and blue eyes, police said. "When anything comes up in this neighborhood that's out of the ordinary, you see the citizens of this neighborhood band together very quickly".

The eight-year-old was pulled into this auto and driven away from her mum. The ordeal was captured on a resident's Ring doorbell camera.

The police officer also revealed that around 40 to 50 police officers all started to cheer and clap when they heard that the young girl had been found safe.

"It's a phenomenal feeling", Calzada said.

"They're our heroes tonight, I'll tell you that", he said of the churchgoers.

Police went into the hotel, breached a door and found Salem inside.
